About

Brought up in West Cornwall and studied Fine Art BA Hons at Bath Spa University. From there I went on to be an Art Teacher and left in 2021 to fully focus on being an artist. Colour and texture is the focus of my work. Self expression and a little bit of the landscape. The abstract comes from love of light, the outdoors, the sea, my Cornish upbringing and dyslexic tendencies. Being so visual I carry this with me and find a need to put it somewhere in a creative way.
I see in pictures and find that gathering information from my surrounding is easy to implement into my painting. I like to take my work right back to my routes and childhood experiences. My memories in colour, trips away, family time and conversation. Often starting several pieces at a time, mainly works in acrylics applying oil bar drawings on top of space and colour knitting together sections. There is an underlying element of fun to my work and I want it to continue to give. I want it to be accessible to all ages.
